Manipur gunbattle leaves 7 terrorists dead

he soldiers of 28 Assam Rifles have killed at least 7 suspected militants in a gunbattle in Manipur’s Thoubal district late on Friday.

Assam Rifles sources said the gunbattle took place when the soldiers were on a cordon and search operation in Andro Sanapat area, 10 km north of Yairipok police station.

“During the cordon and search operation, a gunfight ensued between the soldiers and close to 10-15 UG cadre killing at least seven heavily-armed militants including one district commander at around 11 p.m (October 31) while rest managed to escape,” PRO for IG of Assam Rifles (South) said in an email release.

The authorities also recovered several arms and ammunitions from the slain terrorists.
