New Delhi, Dec 10: A local court has dished out a sentence of 14 years of rigorous imprisonment to Ajit Singh Katiyar, the lone accused in the 2005 Dhaula Kuan rape case.
Katiyar, who was found guilty of raping a Delhi University student in a moving car, was charged with abduction, gang rape, administering stupefying drug, criminal intimidation and group liability.
The 20-year-old victim from Mizoram was abducted from Dhaula Kuan area of the National Capital and gangraped in a moving car in May 2005.
On Wednesday, Dec 9, the court found the accused guilty based on 'consistent' testimony of the victim. After identifying Katiyar as the perpetrator first in the test identification parade, the Mizoram girl stood by her statement throughout the trial.
The other three accused, identified as Danda, Jat and Tappe, were declared proclaimed offenders during the trial as the police failed to arrest them.
