Union Tourism Ministry has agreed to provide providing financial assistance to the North-Eastern states for development of tourism in the region. The center will fund 98 tourism projects in the region.
During the 11th Plan, 63 projects in Sikkim, 37 projects in Nagaland, 28 projects in Arunachal Pradesh, 20 projects in Tripura, 18 projects in Manipur, 12 projects in Mizoram, 11 projects in Meghalaya and 9 projects in Assam will receive fund from Union Tourism ministry.
Among the states, Assam will get Rs. 3379.51 lakh while Rs 7956.54 lakh has been earmarked for Arunachal Pradesh. Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura will get Rs 5488.18 lakh, Rs 3341.32 lakh, Rs 2886.15 lakh, Rs 6087.36 lakh, Rs 16344.53 lakh and Rs 2981.28 lakh respectively.
