BJP wants Nagaland Home Minister's resignation

BJP Thursday demanded the resignation of Nagaland Home Minister Imkong Imchen after he was detained at Kathmandu airport for carrying Indian currency of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denominations, banned in that country."Nagaland Home Minister Imkong Imchen was carrying Rs nine lakh in cash in denominations of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes. This is a serious matter....He should resign," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.Imchen was detained at the Kathmandu airport by Nepalese authorities for carrying Rs nine lakh in cash with notes in denominations of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 which is banned in the neighbouring country to check circulation of fake currencies.The BJP MP also criticised the Nagaland Chief Secretary Lathara for defending Imchen."The Chief Secretary has defended the Home Minister saying that he was not aware of the law. But ignorance of law cannot be an excuse," Javadekar said.He demanded that action should be taken against the Chief Secretary for making such statements.
