Strike affects normal life in Meghalaya

Shillong, Aug 20 : The Left trade union-sponsored 24-hour strike affected parts of Meghalaya, particularly the capital city of Shillong, with functioning in most government offices coming to a standstill.

Functioning in BSNL, postal department, Survey of India, Geological Survey of India and other central offices were paralysed, while state government offices also witnessed thin attendance. The strike also affected public transport.

There was no report of any untoward incident from anywhere in the state.
