Jaipur, Jan. 20 (ANI): Newly appointed Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday sought a change in the prevailing political system and said there should be greater participation of the Aam Aadmi (common people) in the political and decision making system.
Addressing the All India Congress Committee (AICC) meeting here for the first time after being elevated as number two in the party, Rahul said: There is a young and impatient India, and it is demanding a greater voce in the nation''s future. Let me tell you that they are not going to watch silently. The answer is not to run the system in a better way, but the answer is to completely transform the system."
"We need the Aam Aadmi to participate in our politics, because even as I speak their future is being decided in a close room. All our systems are aimed to keep people out. But, I am very optimistic, because we have already put the building blocks to ensure people''s participation in the system," he added.
He lashed out at the opposition parties and criticized them for terming the Aadhar scheme as a system of bribing the people.
"The corrupt stand up and talk of eradicating corruption, and then people who disrespect women all their lives talk of women''s rights," said Rahul.
He also called for an end to infighting within the Congress party, saying that the grand old party still has the support of every single Indian, and should not lose it. (ANI)
