It seemed to be a case of chain-snatching that went horribly wrong. Bina Dedhia was out for a morning walk in Mumbai in October with her husband, Jiten. Two men pulled up on a bike and tried to grab her gold chain. Bina tried to fight back, but died on the road. Her husband was rushed to hospital with injuries.
Now, it turns out that Jiten Dedhia staged the attack on his wife. Along with four others, he has been arrested for paying contract killers one lakh to murder his wife. The Mumbai police claims Jiten was having an affair with his wife's sister, Rupa, and wanted to get rid of Bina. Rupa has also been arrested.
Jiten allegedly called the killers at 5 am before he left his house with his wife. Forty five minutes later, the two bikers appeared and attacked Bina, then disappeared, leaving her with Jiten. Because Bina hadn't died, Jiten allegedly phoned the killers to return. They stabbed her repeatedly till she died. Jiten then asked them to bruise him to make it look like both Bina and he were victims.
